BraveBlairare knockedout

-

Blairgowrie put up a good fight against Forfar West End at the weekend but were knocked out of the Signature Signs Cup.

A Cammy McManus goal proved not to be enough for the men from east Perthshire in a 2-1 defeat at a drenched Davie Park.

Blair boss Mark Brash was taking plenty of positives from the game despite the defeat.

“It was a really good performance, the only down side was the result,”he said.“To be honest it should have been a comfortable win.

“We created lots of chances but only took one, which was a great move finished brilliantly by Cammy McManus.

“West End showed why they are in the league above by taking their chances.

“But it was a great performance with everyone playing their part.

“The biggest plus for us at the moment is that the squad’s average age was 21 on Saturday.

“With four players with experience to come back in, I am extremely positive about the season ahead.”

Scone Thistle were also in Signatures Signs Cup action, facing the toughest of tasks against Super League leaders Lochee United.

The Jags were inches from taking the lead but Calum Kinnear’s strike came back off the post.

Lochee would take advantage and move into a two goal lead at the break, but Scone continued to battle with Kevin Sinclair having his attempt cleared off the line by Garry Kenneth.

The Dundee side would add a further three in the final 15 minutes of the game, which was harsh on the men from Farquharson Park.

Coupar Angus, meanwhile, also exited the competition following a 5-2 defeat away at Dundee North End.

Ryan Wilson and Lee Maloney netted the goals for the Foxhall Park squad.

The weather got the better of the pitch at Brownlands Park with the Luncarty against Dundee Violet game called off. Kinnoull had a free week.
