Road closures plansfor Armistice parade

- Rachel Clark

A number of roads will be closed in Perth city centre for the Armistice Sunday parade.

Perth and Kinross Council has issued a number of temporary traffic restriction orders to stop traffic as well as loading and parking on both sides of the road on Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11.

The closures are to make way for the Armistice Day parade, which this year will mark 100 years since the end of World War I. This includes: ●Tay Street between Charlotte Street and Marshall Place

Shore Road between Marshall Place and the entrance to South Inch car park

Charlotte Street between Perth Bridge and Charlotte Place

●Atholl Street between Charlotte Place and Rose Terrace

●Mill Street from Bridge Lane to Kinnoull Street

Bridge Lane from Mill Street to George Street

George Street between High Street and Charlotte Street

●High Street between Tay Street and Kinnoull Street

●St John’s Place from King Edward Street to Kirkside

Kirkside between St John’s Place and South St John’s Place

●South St John’s Place from Kirkside to King Edward Street

●West Mill Street from North Methven Street to Paul Street

●South Methven Street and North Methven Street from West Mill Street to High Street

The orders also need to rescind the current one-way orders on West Mill Street, High Street and George Street to allow for access.

Throughout the Armistice Day parade, both pedestrian access and emergency access will be maintained, and vehicles participating in the event are exempt from these restrictions.

Local diversions will be put in place for drivers to navigate around the road closures.
