Ricky Ross plays Pitlochry
Ricky Ross, lead singer and founding member of hit band Deacon Blue, is heading for Pitlochry Festival Theatre for a concert next Saturday, November 3 at 7.30pm before going on a world tour.
The singer-songwriter formed Deacon Blue over 30 years ago launching their debut album,‘Raintown’.
A string of best-sellers followed:‘When theWorld KnowsYour Name’,‘Fellow Hoodlums’,‘WhateverYou Say, Say Nothing‘and a double-platinum compilation, ‘Our Town – The Greatest Hits’, which included‘Real Gone Kid’,‘Fergus Sings the Blues’,‘Dignity’,‘Wages Day’, ‘Twist And Shout’and many others.
When Deacon Blue split in 2005, Ricky built a career in lyrics, both for his own albums, and writing for or with other artists - James Blunt, Ronan Keating, Jamie Cullum, Nanci Griffith and others – and now has a string of solo albums to his name, including‘Pale Rider’, ‘Trouble Came Looking’, and now‘Short StoriesVol 1’ drawing from his solo shows. Ricky is also a familiar name in radio presenting, most recently having taken over the BBC Radio 2 Folk Programme.
In this exclusive Pitlochry concert, he will be covering tracks from his latest album and revisiting some of the Deacon Blue’s most well-known songs.
Ricky will be supported by Edinburgh-based Roseanne Reid, who’s made a name for herself with melodic songwriting and distinctly smoky vocals.
