Jeanfield struggle in capital
Jeanfield Swifts manager Ross Gunnion admits his side got what they deserved on Saturday afternoon.
The Riverside men had to settle for a point against Edinburgh United after letting a solitary goal advantage slip late on.
Rhys Davies had given Swifts the lead in the first half but an own goal 10 minutes from time squared up the Conference C tussle.
Gunnion was less than impressed with the performance of his players, saying:“It’s been our most disappointing performance and result of the season.
“Credit to Edinburgh United as they battled hard for 90 minutes, but we dropped our standards to an unacceptable level and paid the price for it.
“Despite playing poorly we still had plenty of chances to put the game out of sight but poor finishing and poor decision making cost us.
“The players know themselves that they’ve under-performed and if you do that you get what you deserve.”
Swifts are still to suffer a Conference C defeat in the East of Scotland League set-up but Gunnion knows results like Saturday will hinder their title challenge.
“We are still unbeaten in the league but draws can hurt you as the good teams won’t drop points unnecessarily against the weaker teams in the league,”Gunnion said.
“We’ll have to bounce back and look to move into next week’s game with better attitude and application.”
