Poll to decide cash share-out by Aviva

A number of organisati­ons in Perth and Kinross are vying to be successful in the Aviva Community Fund.

Aviva, which employs a number of local people at its base in Cherrybank, has opened up voting for the fund.

Successful projects will be awarded financial grants to help the community.

Clubs including District Netball, Style combat fitness, Kits and Slings Library, Riverside Explorers and Pirrie Performing are looking to buy new equipment.

A number of Scout and Guide groups are hoping to cash in, including 22nd Perthshire Scouts (St Matthew’s Church), 7th Perthshire Scouts (Methven), Auchterard­er Brownies, and Blairgowri­e Girlguidin­g Associatio­n.

And sports teams are in the running too, including Fair City Baton Twirlers, Perth City Swim Club, Jeanfield Swifts 2009 football team, Scone Thistle girls, Pitfour Football Club, Fair City junior team, Inchture Bowling Club, Turleum Twirlstars baton twirling troupe and Blackford Bowling Club.

Schools on the list include craft buddies at Humpty Dumpty Nursery, digital projects at Ruthvenfie­ld Primary School, gardening at Methven Primary School, upgrading the playground at Errol Primary School and popup bairns at Muthill Primary School.

Others include PKAVS mental health and wellbeing hub, Andy’s Man Club, Police Scotland’s anti-knives campaign, the Menopause Festival, both the Vale of Atholl Pipe Band and Edradour and Blair Atholl Pipe Band, and buying inclusive play equipment for Maisie Moo’s Magical Moments.

Others include English lessons for mothers with young children at ESOL Perth, Harbour Counsellin­g Service, Pain Associatio­n’s carers and pain programme, upgrades to St Madoes Park, Burrelton and Woodside seniors’ club, redevelopm­ent Orwell Church in Milnathort, and sharing and learning at Kettins Parish Church.
