Two teenagers are helped by SCAA

-

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) was deployed to the scene of an early morning road traffic collision this week when a car hit ice and overturned off the road between Glendevon and Auchterarder.

The helicopter landed on the nearby access road to the reservoir, allowing paramedics quick access to the scene.

An injured teenage girl was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital at Glasgow from the scene accompanied by her mother.

In other call outs this week, another teenager was airlifted by SCAA following a medical emergency on Islay. The girl was transferred to advanced hospital care at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

A second island mission took SCAA to Arran where they airlifted a woman who sustained head injuries in a fall and transferred her to Crosshouse Hospital at Kilmarnock.

And another serious fall - this time on the beach on the island of Mull - saw SCAA airlift a woman to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley.

Helicopter-spotters will see the stand-in red helicopter being used by SCAA for the next few weeks while the normal yellow, green and blue aircraft is away for routine maintenance.

*** The Morris Leslie Group has handed in funds to SCAA this week raised through two different events.

A collection at the company’s vintage working plant open day raised £53.22 and a further £179.05 was raised through a tour of their classic vehicle collection for the Tayside Classic Car Club.

Thanks also to the gentleman from Bridge of Earn who invited donations to SCAA instead of presents for his landmark 75th birthday raising £400.

People of all ages in the Killin community have been pulling together to raise funds for SCAA. The Falls of Dochart Retirement Home, Killin Primary School and the local Walk In The Park group who carried out a sponsored walk around Breadalbane Park have raised £348.30 for the air ambulance charity.

Pitlochry Station Bookshop’s fundraising support continues on track with a further £300 being donated to SCAA this week.

And the congregations at Blair Atholl and Struan Churches were are in tune with SCAA, having raised £310 for the charity at their Harvest Thanksgiving services.

Many businesses and organisations across Scotland kindly feature a SCAA collecting can on their premises, allowing a steady stream of loose change to make its way from the generous public to the airborne charity.

Locally placed ones being emptied and counted at SCAA this week include those from: the County Store, Kinloch Rannoch £41.43; Inchmichael Garage, Errol £28.17; Little Acorn Cafe, Methven £36.67; the Royal Bar, Perth £60.29; the Tufted Duck, Rait £10.31 and Home Bargains, Perth £47.11.

*** Members of Dollar SWI will learn of the work of SCAA at their 7.30pm meeting in the Captain’s Room, Dollar Academy, on Monday evening.

*** Look out for SCAA volunteers with collection buckets if you’re shopping at the House of Bruar at Blair Atholl next Friday and Saturday (Nov 9 and 10).

*** Have you been helped by SCAA? If the charity flew to the aid of you or a loved one, we would love to hear from you.

No one tells of the impact Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance is making better than the people whose lives have been touched by the fastresponse emergency service.
