Railway history inspires bag range
Gleneagles has launched a new range of leather goods.
The Gleneagles and Co collection is inspired by the golden age of railway travel.
The 17-piece set was designed by Ennismore Design Studio and crafted by Tusting and Launer London.
The hotel was built in 1924 by the Caledonia Railway Company and this is reflected in the collection of holdalls, cross-body and messenger bags, purses and luggage tags.
The items are all named after railway stations on the London to Gleneagles railway line.
Designers said the collection balances oldschool elegance with contemporary aesthetics.
Hanna Ter Meulen, product director at Ennismore, said: “We’ve chosen to collaborate with two globally recognised British manufacturers who have a reputation for understated, refined luxury.
“With so many similarities between the values and histories of Gleneagles, Tusting and Launer, we’ve created a collection that is a true celebration of British craftsmanship.”
The leather goods all have a railway motif on them, using patterns from the early 1900s, and are lined with thistles similar to wallpaper patterns discovered in the hotel’s archives.
Buyers can have their initials engraved on the bags.
The collection is available from Gleneagles Hotel, with prices ranging from £95 to £895. The collection is inspired by the golden age of railways
