Record tally for National Childbirth Trust

- Robbie Chalmers

Volunteer Victoria Findlay looking for some bargains The National Childbirth Trust’s (NCT) Nearly New Sale raised £3000 after a successful bargain sale of baby and toddlers’ clothes, toys and equipment was held in Perth.

The money raised will go towards the work that the NCT carry out both locally and nationally, with sellers at the event making a profit of £7000 and recycling many toys and clothes rather than going to a landfill.

The sale was held at Bell’s Sports Centre with 129 parents selling their pre-owned baby essentials to savvy mums and dads wanting a cheaper alternative to pricier high street products.

Rachel Will, branch co-ordinator at NCT Perth and District branch, said: “What a brilliant day.

“Thank you so much to everyone who came along and sold their items with us or bought your bargains

“We’ve made our highest amount ever, so thank you so much to you all for choosing to support us.

“We appreciate it so much as it helps us to support local families through all of our groups and events. “We couldn’t do it without you. “We will continue to look to improve the sale environment each time, taking on board feedback we Volunteers pose at the NCT Perth and District Sale last month receive. This time the queue system and number of tills were changed from the last sale.”

Caralouise Cain, a buyer at the sale said: “I just want to say well done to everyone who volunteered.

“Thank you so much for holding a fantastic event.

“It was so organised and I felt so comfortable being there, even though it was super busy.”

Those who missed the sale will have the opportunity again in April, when the local branch holds their spring sale.

The income generated from Nearly New Sales helps the charity support parents, fund national help lines, provide feeding counsellors, support national campaigns like the #HiddenHalf campaign this year to get postnatal mental illness out of hiding and offer many more services.

The Perth branch hosts two Nearly New Sales a year, regular groups, one-off courses in First Aid for babies and children. For more information, go to www.nct.org. uk/branches/perth
