Marathon effort from runner Stuart

Perth Road Runner Stuart Robertson has completed his mission of running the world’s six major marathons in under three hours.

He ticked off the final test of endurance at the weekend when he stormed to a new personal best time of 2:44.05 at the New York Marathon.

Stuart was joined at the event by four other Perth runners.

He was followed by Martin McEwen in 3:05.16 then husband and wife Richard and Tessa Ward. Richard crossed the line in 3:14.27 and Tessa finished in 4:01.29. Elspeth Docherty set a time of 5:13.35.

Paul Stewart was back on good form to finish the Valencia Half Marathon in 1:33.20.

Back on home soil, nine green vests ran the Templeton 10-mile race.

Duncan Ryan arrived after the gun went off but finished sixth overall and received first MV in 1:03.48, followed by Brian Galletly in 1:15.41, Peter Ritchie in 1:31.15 and Barry Campbell in 1:51.01.

Diane White was first home for the club’s ladies in 1:30.23, followed by Caroline Duffin in 1:32.17 and Liz Johnston in 1:33.27.

Husband and wife Derek and Sarah Swan finished together in 1:58.34.

Road Runners at the Perth Mo-Run

At the Perth Mo-Run Sonjia Crow finished the 10k course 11th overall and first woman in 45:55.

Green vests who banked personal best times were Gregor Wells in 46:24, Lou Ella Cole in 50:23 and Claire McFarlane in 52:05.

Also running were Harriet Shaw, David Wishart, Maria Dale, Caroline Hogarth, Eleanor Paul and David Stokoe.

Richard Hughes paced his nephew across the 5km course, finishing in 29:33.

At the Men’s 10k in Edinburgh Hugh Daly finished in 49:10 and Ian McArthur clocked 1:00.58.

Four Perth Road Runners ran the Glen Ogle 33 Ultra Marathon. Despite the torrential downpour and strong winds, Scott Connor completed the 33 miles in 5:12.01 and finished 57th. He was followed by Colin McCreath in 5:21.52, Ella Webley in 6:32.58 and Alyson MacPherson in 6:47.35.

At the 17.46k Culloden run David Stokoe completed the course in 1:26.35.

Perth, Camperdown, Ruchill, Loch Leven, Lochore Meadows and Linwood parkruns all had green vests in attendance.

Daile Sipple has run 3000 miles this year. When she has not been running she has been volunteeri­ng at races.
