Rory keeps his cool to take No.1 spot
Rory Skinner (centre) finished top of the British Talent Cup standings Perth motorcycle racer Rory Skinner has enhanced his ever-growing reputation by winning the prestigious British Talent Cup.
The championship was introduced this year and welcomed 23 of the country’s best riders aged between 12 and 17.
Rory (17) sat out in front of the points standings heading into the curtain closer in Valencia at the weekend and remained composed to take a brace of podium places.
That was enough to comfortably secure the title, banking the delighted Perth High School pupil a piece of history.
Rory said:“At the start of year it looked like I might not have a ride at all this year, so I have to say a massive thank you to everyone at Dorna and the British Talent Cup for the opportunity this season.
“In the race I just rode how I usually ride, because that’s what had got me to this position in the championship.
“Sure, I was a little bit nervous at the start but halfway through the race it had worn off and I got on with the job.
“I am delighted to be the first-ever British Talent Cup champion.”
Rory’s form throughout the season saw him impress at circuits including Donington Park, Snetterton, Silverstone, Assen and then Valencia.
