Blair Castle long service recognised

Blair Castle and Gardens hosted a ceremony earlier this month to celebrate staff long service on Atholl Estates, which together totalled 611 years across 30 individual­s.

The event was hosted in the castle ballroom and among those celebratin­g was Alasdair Cameron, the longest serving member of staff with over 44 years on the estate since joining in July 1974.

Now a lead forester, Alasdair said it is a job he would still prefer to do over any other, even after all this time.

The event recognised only one retiree, Jane Anderson, who was in charge of the estate’s archive.

A spokespers­on for Blair Castle and Gardens has said she is the “keeper of knowledge”within the estate and“her presence will be sorely missed.”

Andrew Bruce-Wooton, general manager of Blair Castle and Estates, said:“The dedication of the staff across the estates is paramount to ensuring this amazing place is maintained and presented in the best way possible.

“We wanted to reinforce our appreciati­on of the hard work that The celebrated Blair Castle and Gardens staff

has been continuous­ly put in by this highly-skilled group of people and all staff on the estate, whilst revisiting some

of the stories from the archives.
