Farmpayment talksatmeeting withMPGraham
MP Luke Graham, hosted a meeting with local National Farmers Union Scotland representatives and other local farmers in a roundtable discussion at Strathearn Artspace, in Crieff.
The main topic for discussion was how the UK Agriculture Bill aims to ensure continuity of farm and rural payments for farmers until 2024, replacing the existing EU CAP payments.
The UK Government offered for the bill to include Scotland but the administration in Edinburgh refused.
Mr Graham, who welcomed the constructive discussion at the meeting, said:“I would like to thank everyone who came to the roundtable, these discussions are a great way of bringing local farmers together to discuss issues facing the agricultural sector, including concerns about immigration.
“My Scottish Conservative colleagues and I have been working hard to make sure Scotland is being properly represented and, I hope, included in the UK Agriculture Bill, and I will be taking the farmers’ contributions from today back to our future discussions.
“At the start of the year I was able to bring Michael Gove, Secretary of State for DEFRA, to Gloagburn and am keen to bring more Government ministers to our constituency, so the voice of Ochil and South Perthshire is heard loud and clear in Westminster.”
