Puppets and polar bears entertain the little ones

There are shedloads of shows coming up to entertain the little people of Perth and Kinross, especially the younger ones who might not be quite old enough to follow the panto storyline.

Clydebuilt Puppets have two dates in December for their fabulous show, Jack and Billy, in which the company brings two favourite stories together, Jack and the Beanstalk and Billy Goats Gruff. The imaginativ­e story for kids aged four and up comes to Loch Leven Community Library on Saturday, December 1, from 11.30am - 12.30pm. Tickets are £5 via Eventbrite.

The show moves to Birnam Arts on Saturday, December 8, at 11am. All tickets are £6. Nearby Dunkeld is full of fun as it’s Santa Day with a parade, reindeer and stalls.

Perth Museum will hold a free event to celebrate St Nicholas’ Day, with a family afternoon on Saturday, December 1 from 2.304.30pm with face painting, gingerbrea­d decorating, card making and more.

Messy Museum on Thursday, December 6 for children aged two to four is on at 10.15-11am and again at 11.30-12.15 for zero to two year-olds. Booking is advised. To book, phone 01738 632488.

Blairgowri­e Library hosts Jump into Libraries from 9.30am-12.30 on Saturday, December 8 for free brass band music, messy winter crafts, stories and demonstrat­ions.

Breadalban­e Library holds a Christmas party for under fives on December 6. Starting at 10.30am, it’s free and booking is not required. Join in party games, songs, rhymes and more.

The Emperor’s New Clothes is the 2018 panto in Birnam Arts, put on by the Birnam Players from December 12-14, at 7.30pm every day.

Perth Theatre has a mustsee show on December 12 at 11.30am that will enthrall and delight young and old, Polar Bears Go Up!

The bears have lost their balloon and they need to get it back. It’s time to get up, step up, climb up and jump up. The 50 minute show is non-verbal and deaf friendly and was made for ages 2-5.
