Solid Saints hold firm to keep sixth consecutiv­e clean sheet

That is the amount of time goalkeeper Zander Clark has kept his net intact in the Scottish Premiershi­p following a sixth consecutiv­e clean sheet.

This time, it was Kilmarnock who failed to make a breakthrou­gh on an afternoon where, despite the scoreline, both teams served up an exciting battle.

Clark was rarely troubled but when required he pulled off a fantastic second half save to prevent Greg Stewart’s curling strike from finding the top corner.

It was a stop of real class and one which Saints supporters have been witnessing with growing regularity across this season.

A point was a fair result, although Matty Kennedy was inches from a phenomenal late winner. His dipping hit from distance cannoned back off the post.

“A draw is the correct result, we knew it would be difficult because Kilmarnock are a good side,” boss Tommy Wright said.

“They set out to frustrate you and they did that. I feel it’s a good point now and tomorrow when I think about it again I’ll still think that.

“We have six clean sheets in a row now and I thought my back four were outstandin­g.

“Richard Foster had to deal with the threats of their wingers, Scott Tanser on the other side was solid and the two centre halves were rocks.
