Christmas fair at Perth school

-

A Perth primary school is getting ready to hold its annual Christmas fair tomorrow.

Oakbank Primary School’s Christmas fair will take place on Saturday, December 1 from 10am until 2pm inside the school.

A market with local stall holders will be set up for families to start their Christmas shopping, and a group of pupils working on their own business enterprise will have a classroom set up with their ideas and their own items for sale.

Other stalls will include refreshments, cake and candy, a teddy tombola, luxury gift wrap, games and pies from Murrays Bakers.

A‘glamour station’will also be set up, offering glitter tattoos, hairstyles and nail painting.

And there will also be appearances from Santa Claus and also Miss Perth Megan Darlington, herself a former Oakbank pupil.

Charlene Meldrum, one of the organisers of the fair said:“Everyone is looking forward to it.

“It is our main fundraiser of the year and a great way to get into the Christmas spirit, with Santa and stalls.

“Lots of children are coming to help as well, including some who have gone off to high school but want to come back.

“Anyone can come along, but the Santa’s Grotto is pre-booked.

“At the moment, our fundraising focus is to buy literacy and digital resources, but anything and everything gets asked for.”

To raise even more funds, there will be a prize draw and a raffle with some top prizes on offer.

First prize in the grand raffle is a bike, with second prize being a £50 Perth Gift Card.

Raffle tickets will be sold from the school office on the day.

There is also a prize draw for three winners to take a ride around Perth in a Hummer limo with their friends, and ‘squares games’ to win a popstar experience and a signed football and gloves from St Johnstone FC.

Charlene continued:“Our sponsors have gone above and beyond.

“The Bike Station Perth has donated a bike for the first prize in the raffle, and Throntons Solicitors have donated second prize of a £50 Perth Gift Card.

“We are also having two games where you buy squares.

“One of the prizes is a Popstar Experience Perth voucher worth about £100 and the other is a signed St Johnstone football, pair of gloves and reindeer donated by St Johnstone.

“Those are the main sponsors, but lots of other local businesses have helped out too.

“It has been a tremendous effort, especially when times are hard.”
