The Perth and Kinross Polish community is looking forward to celebrating St Nicholas Day next week.
Ahead of Christmas on Tuesday, December 25, the Polish community will celebrate St Nicholas Day on Thursday, December 13.
Organised by PKAVS minority communities hub, the event will run from 6pm until 8pm in The Gateway on Perth’s North Methven Street.
Families from the region’s Polish community are being invited along to the party which will include traditional Polish music and dancing, and activities for children.
Mohammed Afzal from the minority communities hub said: “We have a couple of events for the Christmas Polish celebration with links to St Nicholas.
“This will be a family event and a social get-together where there will be dancing and music, and some children’s activities.
“The Polish community in Perth and Kinross is quite a sizeable one.
“Unfortunately the gallery can only take up to about 50 people.
“We have struggled to find a big enough venue because of the accommodation costs because we are a charity - so we are doing this ourselves in our own office.
“This means it will be first come, first served.”
This comes after a similar St Nicholas Day celebration for the area’s Polish community was held at Perth Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday, December 1.
St Nicholas Day, although celebrated in a number of Christian countries across Europe, is normally marked in Poland on December 6.
