this season but still plays for Perthshire under-18s. He is a very talented player.

“From a local point of view, it reiterates that we are a good breeding ground to nurture talent.”

Scooping the under-18 girls’ player of the year and the under-21 women’s player of the year was former Perthshire star Emily Dark.

Gordon said: “Emily also got another award as part of the Scotland under-18 team.

“So it was a successful night for her.

“Emily went to Dundee Wanderers three or four years ago but started off at Perthshire and came to us for junior coaching.

“We were very humbled when reading a recent article in the Perthshire Advertiser where Emily spoke highly of the club.”

Rounding off the success was also a former Perthshire stalwart, Donald MacFarlane, who lifted the masters player of the year.

Gordon was up for the award too and said: “There were seven nominations for masters player of the year.

“Donald began his career with Perthshire. When he went to Edinburgh University, he has played for Grange ever since.

“I was up for the award and it was a real thrill to be nominated, especially when you saw the others who were nominated.”
