Saints women open with draw against Dundee United

-

Ellie-May Cowie netted a second half leveller as St Johnstone Women opened their Premier League 2 campaign with a 1-1 draw against Dundee United.

Laurie Denney struck with only 12 Hannah Clark in action on Sunday minutes on the clock at the GA Arena but Saints refused to let that ruin their afternoon.

Cowie stepped forward after the break to curl into the back of the net to send Jason McCrindle’s side back to Perth with a share of the spoils.

“It was a good run and finish from Ellie-May but we’re disappointed with the result,”McCrindle said.

“We dominated the second half and had opportunities but we lacked that killer instinct.

“The first half we looked really nervous and I think that was because of the build-up and wait for the game.

“We were a different team in the second half. Dundee United defended their box and allowed us to have possession.”

Next up for Saints is their first home game of the season when Glasgow Girls make the trip to McDiarmid Park on Sunday.
