Looking forward after fire shock Marina manager throws a dinner party beside burnt-out restaurant

General manager Angus MacKay has had a difficult week

The Scottish Crannog Centre was offering free coffee and tea to unconvenienced customers from next door. Taymouth Marina staff expressed deep gratitude for the unrelated visitor attraction stepping in to lend a hand.

In the face of no food facilities on site, all this week the Taymouth Marina guests have been ferried gratis to and from Aberfeldy to get a feed.

And this Friday night will see the general manager host a dinner making use of the sauna area, with a chef from Crieff cooking up a celebratory meal in the shadow of the damaged bistro.

Angus MacKay, general manager of Taymouth Marina said: “It has been a whirlwind few days but despite our sadness at losing the restaurant, we have made quick and effective plans that will enhance our guests’ experience at Taymouth Marina.

“The free taxi service to and from nearby restaurants has been very

popular and it’s great to see local businesses benefiting.

“We are also hosting a supper for our guests this weekend which we are all looking forward to and of course we have the usual activities available throughout the weekend including the Hot Box sauna. It is very much business as usual and our focus is on our guests and day visitors and making their visit special.”

Looking forward, there’s to be no let-up, according to a company spokesperson: “Now the dust has settled somewhat, we can focus on welcoming guests throughout the rapidly approaching spring and summer seasons whilst hatching some exciting plans to replace the restaurant and office building.

“We have started plans for a pop-up restaurant right on the banks of Loch Tay to improve the experience this coming summer.”
