Youngsters can enjoy singing

-

Budding young singers are being encouraged to take part in a new musical programme.

Returning for a third year, NYCOS Wee Sing will introduce boys in primary three to singing through fun musical games.

The classes will take place on Thursday evenings, starting on Thursday, February 23 at St John’s RC Academy in Perth, where the boys will learn about pitching, rhythm and beat through interactive games and activities.

One of the parents of a previous Wee Sing event said:“This is an absolutely brilliant programme, I can’t recommend it enough.

“My primary three child did it last year, and had a wonderful time.

“I was so impressed with what the children could do after such a short space of time.”

Perth is one of only two locations in Scotland where places are initially only open to boys.

This is with the aim of improving equalities, diversity and inclusion and boosting male participation in the performing arts.

Karen Clark, one of the Wee Sing leaders, said:“NYCOS Wee Sing provides an invaluable opportunity for primary three pupils to come together and experience high quality, enjoyable music making through singing.”

NYCOS Wee Sing is free to attend, but spaces are limited, and parents can book their child’s place in advance on www. nycos.org.uk/weesing
