On Sunday Winter Words takes a deadly turn, with a duo of crime writers turning up at the book festival, keen to share chilling deeds and stories of murder.

The annual Winter Words Festival at Pitlochry Festival Theatre provides a thrilling setting for a double whammy of crime writers on Sunday, February 17 at 4.30pm, when ‘Bloody Scotland’, a new book named after Scotland’s international crime-writing festival in Stirling is in the spotlight.

From murder in an Iron Age broch, to a dark psychological thriller set at Edinburgh Castle, this collection of stories uncovers the intimate and deadly - connections between people and places.

Joining writer and broadcaster James Crawford are two of the 12 best-selling authors featured in Bloody Scotland. There’s Denise Mina, who won the Crime Writer’s Award Short Story Dagger, for her story in this collection, along with bagging the 2017 McIlvanney Prize and the Theakstons Old Peculiar Crime Novel of the Year Award, twice over.

The second author to speak to James is Lin Anderson, best known as the creator of the forensic scientist Rhona MacLeod Denise Mina

series of crime thriller novels, and for her part in founding the annual crimewriting festival itself.

Sunday’s Winter Words session promises to be superb, with Lin and Denise uncovering how the nation’s iconic architecture and locations provide a further malevolent character in their writing.

There will be an opportunity to get books signed by the authors.
