Creative writing workshops take Cairngorms inspiration
The first of a series of creative writing workshops in the Cairngorms will be held next month.
As part of the Cairngorms National Park Authority’s ‘Shared stories: a year in the Cairngorms’project, budding creative writers are encouraged to take part in the workshops.
The workshops, which are open to established writers and those just starting out, will give people the chance to explore relationships and attitudes towards nature in the national park through fun and supportive creative writing opportunities.
This comes after‘Shared stories: a year in the Cairngorms’was awarded £8000 from Creative Scotland and £10,000 from the WoodlandTrust.
The workshops will be led by the park’s first ever writer-inresidence, Merryn Glover from Kincraig. They aim to encourage people to explore and share the ways in which people and nature come together in the national park.
Four workshops will take place on Wednesdays next month: March 6, March 13, March 20 and March 27 at Aviemore Community Centre.
Each workshop will run from 7pm until 9pm and participants are encouraged to attend all four sessions.
Workshops are free to attend but places can be booked in advance by emailing sharedstoriescairngorms@ gmail.com
Writers are also encouraged to submit their writing to the project, which will then be published online or on display in an end-of-the-year anthology. Merryn Glover, Cairngorms National Park’s writer-in-residence
