Self belief pays dividends for hard-working Jags

-

Ross Mitchell reckons Scone Thistle are reaping the rewards of hard work and self belief.

And the Jags midfielder is hoping an unbeaten home record can be maintained at Farquharson Park when East Craigie come calling.

Scone, who sit in second, can stretch the gap between themselves and the men from Dundee to seven points with a victory.

“Everyone is raring to go, training has been really sharp even with the games getting called off,”Mitchell told the Perthshire Advertiser.

“You always need to work hard to get anything against East Craigie. If we play our game I believe we can get another win.

“We have plenty of belief in the way we play. There’s no secrets to our home form really, we’re just taking it game by game.

“Hard work and self belief every week goes a long way. It would be a massive boost if we were to get three points on Saturday.

“We’ve just to take each game as it comes and try to stay in the hunt.”

Manager Derek Lawson added to his squad this week by welcoming Lee Maloney to the club.

While the new arrival is currently recovering from an injury, hopes are high that he can play a key role in the Premier League North run-in.

“I am delighted to sign Lee after a long process,”Lawson said.

“He is a very talented player and will bring more attacking options and competition for places.”

The re-building process is continuing at Coupar Angus and this week they have built on their squad further with the signing of Gary Mackie from SconeThistle.

On Saturday the east Perthshire side, still chasing their first win of the season, welcome Kinnoull to Foxhall Park for league action.

Hitting the road will be seventh-placed Blairgowrie, who face Brechin Vics. Ross Mitchell (red and black) wants Scone’s impressive home form to continue
