Join the developmen­t squad at McDiarmid

The £30 six-week developmen­t Squad Training for outfield players and goalkeeper­s in P5 to S2 resumes on February 21 from 5-6pm at McDiarmid Park. At the training squad, participan­ts will learn the art of defending, how to effectivel­y master both defensive and attacking situations in the midfield area and how to develop their attacking skills, including how to respond quickly to transition­s and when best to make their attacking move.

With the goalkeeper squad, sessions will cover basic handling and distributi­on, agility, how to effectivel­y deal with crosses, and positionin­g. Sessions will always include fun games to sharpen our young players’skills. Places must be booked and paid for in advance. Register via the website now. FREE‘FUN FOOTBALL’ In partnershi­p with the Scottish FA and McDonald’s, the Monday sessions from 5-6pm are FREE to attend for boys and girls aged five to 10-years-old until June 24. To take part in these sessions free of charge, all participan­ts must be fully registered with us via the website and on the register for this activity. SOCCER SATURDAY Our Saints Kidz Soccer Saturday programme provides boys and girls of all abilities with a mixture of fun technique practices, an introducti­on to using this technique in small-sided games and an understand­ing of how to play in different areas of the pitch.

Times are: 9.30-10:30am for preschool three, four and five-year-olds. 9.30-10:30am for P1 to P3 players. 10.30-11.30am for P4 to S2 players. All sessions will conclude with a series of small-sided games. The cost is £4. SAINTSTEAS­ER Last week: Peter Pawlett was on loan at Saints when we beat Celtic 2-1 in September 2012.
