Invitation to young artists
Budding young artists are invited to enter a national drawing competition.
Run by Education Scotland, the John Byrne National Drawing Competition has opened for entries, and organisers are encouraging as many children as possible from Perth and Kinross to enter.
The competition is sponsored by the renowned artist and playwright John Byrne.
Entries are open until Friday, March 1 and it’s for pupils from primary four to third year.
Last year’s competition saw 6000 drawings submitted from schools across Scotland.
John Byrne said:“This is a great way to give young people in Perth and Kinross the opportunity to harness their artistic skills and love for drawing.
“I’m hoping to see even more Perth and Kinross pupils unveiling their creative talents this year.”
Three winners, and 30 runners-up, will have their artwork displayed at an exhibition in Tannahill Centre in Paisley.
Alan Armstrong, strategic director for Education Scotland, said: “Art and design is an important part of the curriculum and this competition aims to encourage pupils across Scotland to develop their drawing skills and use their creativity.
“Education Scotland is proud to be hosting this competition with John and our education partners.”
Entries can be of any size and created in any media, but they must be drawings.
