A9 closes this weekend for dual works
A923 Dunkeld junction from 8.30pm until 6am on Friday, February 22, Saturday, February 23, Sunday, February 24 and Monday, February 25.
Transport Scotland says these overnight closures, which affects 9.5 kilometres of carriageway, are necessary to install temporary safety barriers ahead of the dualling works.
A signed diversion route will be in place during the four-night closure.
This will be via the A85 for northbound traffic, and via the A923 Dunkeld junction for southbound traffic.
Access to residents living in Luncarty, Bankfoot and Stanley will be maintained throughout via the local road network.
Gemma Montrose, project manager for Transport Scotland, said:“Road users will have already seen the gradual introduction of traffic restrictions on this stretch of the A9 from last week, including narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit of 40mph.
“The installation of the barriers is the final piece of preparatory works that will allow our contractor to begin construction work in earnest.
“We would urge road users to approach the new traffic management layouts with care, and if travel during the planned overnight closures is unavoidable, to follow the diversions and allow extra time for your journey.
“Transport Scotland will be working closely with out contractor to ensure disruption to road users and the local community is monitored throughout the works and is kept to a minimum during the construction phase.”
The planned road closures are weather dependent, and should it not go ahead, it will take place instead from Friday, March 1 to Monday, March 4.
