Workshops will take a look at care services

-

within the care and wellbeing sectors.

The aim is to support people, in particular older people and those with disabilities and health problems, to lead the life they want in their local community, by offering an ‘enterprising response’ to the provision of care, support and wellbeing.

GrowBiz helped to develop and support the model pioneered by the Highland Perthshire-based Care and Wellbeing Cooperative with support from Perth and Kinross Council and the Scottish Government’s SDS Innovation Fund.

The Care and Wellbeing Cooperative is an umbrella organisation with around 30 micro-enterprise members – all of whom are involved in providing social care, health and wellbeing services to the local community.

The workshops will be presented by Donna Murray-Trail who coordinates the Care and Wellbeing Cooperative and the Creative Care project.

Jackie Brierton, CEO of GrowBiz, said: “As the demand for social care in rural communities increases, more and more people are considering setting themselves up as self-employed to help increase the range of care and support available to those in need.

“It is an increasingly important growth sector and the Creative Care project helps create diverse economic and enterprise opportunities for local people with a range of skills and expertise, providing services beyond just personal care and therapies, including for example transport, therapeutic gardening, accessible tourism, dogwalking, befriending and many more.”

The session in Ballinluig on Monday, February 25, takes place at Nae Limits and gets under way at 6.30pm, while the Kinross session on Monday, March 4 takes place at Loch Leven Community Campus at 1.30pm.

Both sessions are expected to last for around two hours.

Participants are advised to arrive in good time for refreshments and to meet the GrowBiz team and other attendees.
