A number of dementia-friendly film screenings will be held in Perth.

Once a month, a classic film will be shown in Perth Playhouse with a dementiafriendly approach.

Each of the films will be shown on a Friday at 11.30am, and costs £5 per person.

The first of these films for 2019 will be today (Friday, February 22) with ‘The Wizard of Oz’.

A spokesperson for the cinema said: “Each month we’ll be bringing you a dementiafriendly screening of an old, classic film that is perfect for all generations to enjoy.

“The lights will be lowered and volume turned down to create a calmer and more relaxed environment, with customers free to move around during the movie.

“It is on at 11.30am on a Friday each month, with tickets priced at just £5 per person.”

The next film will be on Friday, March 22 with ‘Fiddler on the Roof ’.

Other dementia-friendly films will be ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ (April 26), ‘The King and I’ (May 31), ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ (June 28), ‘West Side Story’ (July 26), ‘The Golden Voyage of Sinbad’ (August 30), the 1946 version of ‘Great Expectations’ (September 27), ‘Oliver!’ (October 25), ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ (November 29) and ‘It’s a Wonderful Life!’ (December 27).
