Pressure off Saints women

-

St Johnstone Women’s manager Jason McCrindle reckons this weekend’s game against Glasgow City comes at a good time.

The Perth squad, who lost 2-0 to Glasgow Girls last week, will be huge underdogs for the SWPL Cup clash at McDiarmid Park.

But McCrindle said: “As funny as it may sound, I think this could be the perfect game for us.

“This weekend we can go out and play with some freedom and not worry about picking up three points in the league.

“There is no pressure on us so it’s about enjoying the game on Sunday.”

McCrindle added: “We weren’t ruthless enough.

“We’re playing a lot of good stuff, dominating possession, but lacking that killer instinct.

“It will come and we’re not panicking. I would be concerned if we weren’t playing well and creating chances.

“Sometimes all it needs is for one to go in off someone’s shoulder or knee to give us a head-start in a game.

“The results weren’t what we were hoping for in the first two league games, but there’s no need for any drastic action.”

Sunday’s cup match against Glasgow City kicksoff at 4pm at McDiarmid Park.
