‘Use disappointment to your advantage’

-

Chris Anton (centre) wants a quick reaction to the Broxburn defeat. Pictures: Stuart Vance and nothing much has been said between the lads since. Everyone was just keen to get to training, get it out of the system and get back out on Saturday to put it right.

“We know how good a team we are and how good we have been all season. We don’t want this one result to define our season.

“We’re still in a number of cups and this was only our first defeat in the league. It’s important we take positives from the negatives.

“Hopefully we’ll have something to celebrate at the end of the season.”

The defeat to Broxburn will make Jeanfield’s quest of winning the title a difficult one.

But Anton added: “We’ve just got to concentrate on winning all of our games.

“Stranger things have happened and I don’t think anyone ever thought Linlithgow would draw with Ormiston at the weekend.

“It’s maybe similar to when we dropped points to Stirling University and Edinburgh United earlier in the season.

“All of the pressure is on Broxburn now. They have six games and know that it’s in their hands.

“We need to go out, win all of our Rhys Davies found the net twice for Swifts but it wasn’t enough

games and see what happens come the end of the season.”

Swifts will be looking to take their disappointment out on Preston Athletic in this weekend’s Conference C fixture.

“Everyone who was at the game on Saturday will want to make sure they get out on that park and put things right,” Anton said.

“I’ve no doubt that we will go out and put on a show against Preston.

“When we played them in the last fixture at home, it was probably one of

our best performances of the season.

“They ran Kelty Hearts pretty close to winning their league last year, so we went into it thinking it was going to be very competitive.

“We played very well and took our chances. But it’s going to be a completely different game down there on their home park.

“They’ve picked up a wee bit of form and are quite close to us in the league. They’ll be keen to get into those top spots.”
