going to need him but that is football.

“Injuries in football happen but Cammy has come in, was composed against Rangers and showed his experience.

“Fortunately, it seems Zander’s injury isn’t as bad as we first feared.

“The scan has shown some damage but importantly there is no tear to Zander’s tendon.

“The hamstring and tendon are stretched but the fact that there is no tear there means we can hopefully have Zander back to full fitness in a matter of weeks.”

Another goalkeeper earning plaudits at the club is youngster Ross Sinclair, who has just returned from representing Scotland under-19s.

The former Perth Academy student kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 friendly win against Azerbaijan in Murcia, Spain, earlier this week.

Wright believes the young shotstopper, who was out on loan at BSC Glasgow earlier in the season, has a bright future in the game. Wright said: “It was good to see Ross get recognition. He really enjoyed it. It’s good when any player gets international recognition. Ross benefited from going out on loan to the Lowland League and playing football that really means something.

“The work he gets with Paul Mathers is excellent and he is growing and maturing. He will only get better.”

Saints will be looking to maintain their unbeaten record this season against Aberdeen – they have had a win and a draw – when the teams meet in Perth tomorrow.

Wright said: “We’ve got big games coming up, as everyone has at this stage of the season.

“It will be tough against Aberdeen and they have quality throughout their squad. We need to make sure we deal with them physically and with their quality.

“On the back of a good performance against Rangers, we should really be looking forward to the game.” Cammy Bell will have a run of games between the posts
