Bikes worth thousands stolen by masked raiders
Police officers are appealing for information after bikes worth tens of thousands of pounds were stolen from a Perthshire outdoor resort.
The theft took place in the early hours of Thursday, February 21 from Comrie Croft Hostel near Crieff.
Three people are said to have broken into the croft’s bike shop and stolen a number of bikes and bike parts, with a value of around £20,000.
The trio also made off with a cash register.
Police officers investigating the incident are now appealing for more information from members of the public, as they believe the thieves may have tried to sell on the stolen goods.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland’s Tayside division said:“Police Scotland is appealing for information about a high value theft from Comrie Croft Hostel, just outside Crieff, which happened between 12.10am and 12.40am on Thursday, February 21.
“The bike shop there was broken into by three persons, all of whom wore black hooded tops with their faces covered.
“A number of bikes and bike parts were stolen, along with a cash register.
“The bikes were a Saracen Ariel, Kona Process, Kona Operator, Orange Stage 5, Orange Clockwork and a Merida E-160.
“Unfortunately we do not have any photos of the bikes taken.
“If you have been offered one of these bikes for sale, or if you have any other information that could assist our enquiries, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.
“Also, information can be given anonymously through Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
