Parliament opportunity for teachers
Teachers in Perth and Kinross are being encouraged to become parliament ambassadors.
Applications are now being taken for the 2019 UK Parliament Teachers’ Institute, a yearly event encouraging teachers of modern studies, citizenship and related subjects to become UK Parliament teacher ambassadors.
Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, is encouraging teachers to sign up for the three-day residential course, which will give teachers first-hand experience of the UK Parliament, including sessions with MPs, lords and staff from both Houses of Parliament.
Taking place from Monday, July 1 to Wednesday, July 3, the course is aimed at people who work with children and young people between the ages of five and 18.
Mr Wishart said:“The UK Parliament Teachers’Institute is a great resource and offers valuable first-hand insight into how the Houses of Parliament work.
“With Westminster an extremely lively place at the moment, what better time to come and see it in action.
“Participants will see inside both Houses of Parliament and will meet with members of both legislatures. I would strongly encourage teachers in my constituency to apply.”
The deadline for applications is Sunday, April 21.
Transport, accommodation and meal costs will be covered by the organisers.
