Colourful show from school pupils
The ‘technicolour dreamcoat’ itself was borrowed from Perth Grammar School, who produced their own production of ‘Joseph’ last year.
Breadalbane’s head of costume, Caroline Stewart (also a HE teacher in school), did a great job of ‘extending’ the coat and adding a parachute ‘train’ to the coat. This allowed it to flow and billow out in the final number, and be held by the younger pupils as well those in secondary and it created a real showstopper tableau on stage.
The note-perfect band was made up of S4-S6 pupils, accompanied by the school’s music teachers in school and visiting music instructors from the Perth and Kinross Instrumental Service. Together they played a full 10-piece classical musical score.
Joseph director Mrs Shore said: “We are particularly proud of the choreography in our show and a special mention must go to the team of S5-S6 choreographers, who assisted me to choreograph the dancing. They were Bethan MacDonald, Adara Plunkett, Isla Logan, Georgia Holmes and Taylor Jamieson.
“We are also proud of the way we interpreted the role of ‘narrator’. Traditionally, the role is fulfilled by just one actor, but we decided to
‘Joseph and the Amazing Dream Coat’had four narrators, Emma Allardyce, Hermione Brockway, Elspeth Mathieson and Rosie Torrance
split the role across four wonderful actors.” Mrs Shore concluded: “We in the secondary school are thrilled to have produced such a large scale production and to have worked
so closely with the primary school children and staff, on this joint venture. We are already looking forward to our next project.”
