Hard work continues for Perth team

-

The hard work has resumed as Perth City Swim Club members prepare for an important meet later this month.

Coach Ann Dickson has been putting young swimmers through their paces following an impressive Scottish National Open performance.

The Perth club, represented by five athletes, finished ninth overall with a number of medals and personal bests returning to the Fair City.

One of the successes came from youngster Jack Muncey, who was crowned junior 400m freestyle champion at Aberdeen Sports Village.

Jack, from Kinross, is now preparing for the British Summer Championships which will be held in Glasgow.

“In the last year Jack has been working very well in both freestyle and backstroke,”coach Ann said.“Backstroke is his number one.

“But with the freestyle he has definitely moved up the junior rankings and he ended up as best junior at the Scottish.

“The British Summer Championships is the end meet of the season so he’s hoping to swim Jack Muncey (right) alongside Perth City team-mates at the Scottish National Open Championships at his very best.

“He has got a couple of hard weeks of training before we see what the performance is like.

“He really wants to post his best times because he has a chance, certainly in the backstroke, of getting a medal at the British.

“Jack is supported by the Tayside and Fife institute of sport, having his own physio and strength and conditioning coach.”

Also lined-up to swim at the British are Perth members Katherine Bailey, Ola Stanton and Murray Pritchard.
