New Swifts signings are keen to impress

good to learn from him.

“I’ve always wanted to play at the best level possible and to test myself. I’ve played against some of the boys in the team and everyone has been brand new.

“Hopefully I can hit the ground running, play well, get myself in that team then not come out of it. There should be opportunities for me.

“Pre-season has been hard but I’m sure it will start to get easier in the next few weeks with the fitter I get. I want to get back into the swing of things.

“I just want to play as many games as I can. There’s the Scottish Cup too and we’ll look to win a couple of games and see what happens.”

Smith makes the move after netting more than 30 goals for Kinnoull last season and, similarly to Dolzanski, felt the time was right for a fresh challenge.

“I’m expecting the games to be tougher and trying to get into the first team is going to be more of a challenge,” Smith said.

“The manager talked about the club and where they want to go. That was enough for me to make up my mind and sign.

“I’ll just be taking each game as it comes and see what happens. Obviously I’ll be Jake Dolzanski and Mark Smith are pictured alongside the club’s assistant manager Logan McConachie

wanting to score in every game I play but I know that will be a lot harder now.

“I still want to better myself and see how high I can go. I need to work hard in pre-season.”

While the hard work has started, Smith kept himself fit during the short break from

action.

“Pre-season has been pretty tough but I’ve not been doing too badly,” he said. “We’ve all been doing our own stuff in the break so we’re not finding it too difficult.”

He added: “I try to keep myself fit and have been going

out running. I’ve had a few weeks away from football but haven’t really stopped with the fitness.

“I know a lot of the boys and have played with Lewis Mackie and Rhys Davies at Kinnoull. That helps when first coming into the club.”
