Urine bottle found on A90 litter pick
Raw onions also chucked away
Councillor Angus Forbes and two members of the Invergowrie community cleared bags of litter left on a busy slip road to Invergowrie earlier this month.
The trio undertook their litter pick at the A90 slip road which doubles as a popular stop-over point where lorry drivers often spend the night or take breaks during long journeys.
The slip road is what is left of the original road to Perth before the A90 bypass was built by Transport Scotland.
As a result of the number of stops on the road, Carse of Gowrie ward councillor Forbes feels the area suffers from dumped litter “more than other areas in Perth and Kinross”.
Two raw onions, a set of car wheels and a bottle of urine were discovered.
Cllr Forbes said: “Invergowrie was the site of my litter pick which I run monthly across the Carse of Gowrie, due to holidays, turnout was much lower than usual and only two members of the community joined me this time.
“I am always fascinated at what is found on these litter picks but I have never found raw onions before.
“This is probably due to the area being frequented by lorry drivers who prepare meals in their cabs, perhaps this particular driver didn’t like onions and he or she decided to chuck them out of the window Cllr Angus Forbes with local resident Gillian Docherty and her 10-year-old daughter Hannah
“Sadly, the urine filled bottles are not unusual, especially around areas with a large number of commercial drivers. I just wish they would put them in the bins, there is no shortage of rubbish bins here
and the council empty them regularly.
“I will continue to run monthly litter picks across my ward and would encourage more people to join me, it’s a maximum of two hours on a Sunday.”
