Manrummaged throughdrawers

-

A Perth man turned up at his estranged wife’s house uninvited and “rummaged through” several personal items in drawers in her bedroom.

Thirty-nine-year-old Mark Fowler, of Balvaird Place, then telephoned her to tell her what he had done.

He has already been banned from approaching or contacting Laura Fowler for a year - and barred from entering Iona Court, where she lives.

He was to have been sentenced on Wednesday, July 17, but the case has now been put off until next month.

Fowler admitted that on February 16, 2018, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner which caused his wife fear or alarm at her North Muirton home.

Depute fiscal Carol Whyte told Perth Sheriff Court that she was “very alarmed” by his actions.

The court heard the couple had been married for 17 years but the relationship had ended six months prior to the incident.

During the telephone call, the accused made reference to “personal items” that he knew were within the house.

“The complainer was very alarmed as she hadn’t disclosed to anyone that she had these items,” explained the fiscal.

As a result, the police were contacted and the accused was detained.

“He made admissions in relation to finding items during the incident,” added the fiscal.

Fowler was later cautioned and charged and replied: “I just want it sorted out.”

Solicitor David Holmes said the accused had been worried about his marriage and wanted it to continue.

“Curiosity and his own feelings got the better of him and he did rummage through the drawers.

“Having done that, he felt bad about it and told his wife,” added the lawyer. “But he’s no threat to his wife.” Sheriff William Wood deferred sentence until August 7 for colleague, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis, who had heard the facts last time round, to decide the accused’s fate.

Fowler had his bail continued meantime.
