The 80s chart stars who can’t wait to Rewind

-

Pack the cool bag, grab the day-glo top and the retro Converse boots and head to Scone Palace, the weekend of Rewind Scotland has arrived.

Rewind Scotland returns to Scone Palace in Perth from today (Friday, July 19) to Sunday, July 21.

The PA previously reported that Rewind Scotland punters had a reputation for civilised camping habits, so much so that the organisers of Rewind didn’t have a policy for encouraging people to take their tents home because the crowd loved their camping gear far too much to leave their tents behind.

No, the ‘older’ demographic bought good quality gear and took care not to break it - that’s not very rock and roll, but certainly better for the planet.

So seated comfortably in a fold-up chair, there’s a legendary line-up of music icons of the 80s to enjoy.

Foreigner and Bryan Ferry will be headlining the weekend, playing the festival for first time.

Organisers promise to take Rewind to new heights this year with their most musically diverse line-up yet – plus added entertainment including a jam-packed comedy programme and family activities.

Katt Lingard, Rewind Festival’s event manager, said: “Following our milestone 10th anniversary last year, we are excited to take Rewind into the future with a celebration of not just 80s artists but also legends whose influence spans far beyond the decade.

“We are welcoming a host of fantastic artists who will be performing at the festival for the very first time like Bryan Ferry, Foreigner, The Stranglers, Lulu and Lisa Stansfield.

“It’s going to be a fantastic three days in Scone Palace with something for everyone.”

Foreigner make their Rewind debut by headlining Rewind Scotland on Saturday, July 20.

Headed up by Mick Jones and lead singer Kelly Hansen, Foreigner is one of the most popular rock acts in the world, with over 80 million records sold, 10 multi-platinum albums and 16 top 30 hits to their name.

Foreigner’s string of hits include the enduring anthems: ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’, ‘Cold As Ice’, and ‘Hot Blooded’.

Founding member, lead guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones said: “We are excited to be part of Rewind Festival.

“Scottish fans have always been great to us, and we look forward to bringing them an amazing show.”

Scotland’s world-renowned music legend Lulu is going to perform this weekend. The singer-songwriter paved the way for this generation’s power vocalists like Florence Welch and Paloma Faith.

Lulu said: “I am excited to come home to Scotland and perform at Rewind Festival for the first time.

“It is going to be a fantastic weekend of live music from start to finish at Scone Palace. I look forward to rockin’ out with you!”
