Top fiddle band to team up with Scottish vocalist

with a leading vocalist in Pitlochry later this year.

Blazin’ Fiddles is teaming up with Emily Smith for their 2019 tour, which will stop off at Pitlochry Festival Theatre on Sunday, August 18.

For the past two decades, Blazin’ Fiddles has been captivatin­g audiences with its excitement and passion, and this show will feature a blend of solo and ensemble sets.

Fiddlers Jenna Reid, Bruce MacGregor, Rua Macmillan and Kristan Harvey will be joined by Anna Massie on guitar and fiddle and Angus Lyon on piano, and will each draw inspiratio­n from their own part of the Highlands and Islands to create their music.

Bruce MacGregor, founder of Blazin’ Fiddles, said: “Reaching our milestone 20th birthday last year was a significan­t moment in the band’s history and reminded us of the spark and passion for Scottish fiddle music which gave birth to Blazin’ Fiddles back in 1998.

“We’re still driven by the same mission today: to ignite a passion and ire in our audiences with our music.

“We can’t wait to play to Pitlochry crowds this August and are honoured to have the talented vocalist Emily Smith for company in 2019.”

Multi-award winning singer Emily Smith is a leading figure in the Scottish folk scene, and for over a decade she has entertaine­d audiences from all over the world.

She has released eight studio albums and collaborat­ed with the likes of Barbara Dickson, Richard Thompson, Eddi Reader, Jerry Douglas and Beth Nielson Chapman.

Emily said “Blazin’ Fiddles are cherished by audiences across Scotland and I can’t wait to hit the road with this iconic folk band this year and set Pitlochry Festival Theatre alight.

Blazin’ Fiddles and Emily Smith will perform at Pitlochry Festival Theatre on Sunday, August 18.
