Awards on menu for food producers

eatery, Little’s Restaurant is hoping to get the best seafood establishm­ent award Glover Arms (Perth) and The Tower Gastro Pub and Apartments in Crieff.

Looking good in the running for hotel restaurant of the year are the Atholl Arms Hotel in Blair Atholl, The Old Mill Inn of Pitlochry, Rooftop Restaurant at Knock Castle Hotel and Spa in Crieff, Dunkeld House Hotel and Kinloch House Hotel in Blairgowri­e.

Two Big County names are listed for caterer of the year. They are 3G Catering in Perth and Gourlay Catering of Crieff.

George Urquhart from 3G Catering said: “In Perth and Perthshire we are doing something right to have so many local nomination­s.

“This is a great achievemen­t for our guys and all the hard work they have done, especially for the guests who have taken the time to nominate us - it is so humbling.

“This has taken our business to a different level and means we have to raise our standards even higher. I am so proud of everyone and I cannot thank them enough.

“This is a tremendous achievemen­t for Perth and Perthshire.”

Nawaab of Perth is in the Scotlandwi­de shortlist for best Indian establishm­ent and another Fair city restaurant, Grand Italia, could take the prize for best Italian.

Making it yet another year for a mention in the best world cuisine section is The Mexican in Perth. Blairgowri­e’s eatery, Little’s Restaurant is hoping to get the best seafood establishm­ent award at the final. And restaurant supplier of the year, could go to Fish in Crieff.

For the restaurant choice supplier, of Perth is in the Scotland-wide shortlist for best Indian establishm­ent Castle is up for restaurant of the year the judges are considerin­g giving the award to the butchery firm, Hunters of Kinross.

In the category of chef of the year, there’s another mention of Deil’s Cauldron in Comrie. Cookery school of the year has three very different Perthshire contenders. They are Ballintagg­art Farm in Grandtully, Indian Cook School by Praveen Kumar of Perth and Let’s Cook Scotland, based in Abernethy.
