Fall-out teen threw glass bottle at taxi

She added: “He [the driver] noticed the accused was holding a large glass bottle and as he drove past, Dixon threw it at the side of the vehicle.”

The driver immediatel­y pulled up and could see damage to the trim at the rear bumper which had been cracked and had “several pieces of broken glass on it.”

Solicitor David Holmes said his client is at present subject to Right Track, set up to keep youngsters on the straight and narrow.

Mr Holmes added: “There appears to have been a significan­t improvemen­t in his behaviour in recent times.

“He is engaging well and has completed 148 hours of work.

“Clearly this incident is concerning - he was under the supervisio­n of the court - and it was sheer stupidity on his part.

“There had been a falling out with a girl and drink had been taken.”

Sheriff Gillian Wade noted that Dixon has a previous conviction for assault with a bottle and told him that the latest offence would be dealt with “in a significan­t fashion.” She added: “I’m not sure if he appreciate­s the perilous position he’s in.”

Sentence was deferred until September 16, when Dixon has a Right Track review.

Earlier reports on him had been “appalling” and they had only improved after she gave him “a rollicking” in court.

And she warned him: “If I’m not happy with the report, all sentencing options are open. I expect you to maintain and improve on the progress made so far.”
