own green fingers against those of other local gardeners,”explained chairperson Euna Scott.

“I’ve so often overheard comments at shows like‘My one of those is just as good as that exhibit’or‘I have one growing in the garden just like that’. Now’s your chance to enter and show your best.

“Arm yourself with the schedule downloaded from www.rhsofperthshire.co.uk and browse the possibilities for being part of this annual community event.”

Euna added that it is always difficult to predict what will be ready to pick or harvest until nearer the time:“But do get out in the garden and consider possible flower combinations for the vases or protect potential quality vegetable specimens.

“If you have a glut of one or other fruit, there’s still time to make beverages to enter and plenty of time to plan floral displays on the title themes.

“And perhaps you are looking to entertain the grandchildren. If so, then look no further than the junior section for ideas.

“There has never been a better time to join in meeting up with other gardening enthusiasts and feel the buzz of competition.

“If you have never tried competing before, then don’t be concerned as there is plenty of advice or helping hands to set you on the right road to success by e mailing rhsofperthshire@gmail.com

“Remember all entries will be submitted at the hall in Scone on Friday evening, August 16, between 5pm and 11pm.

“Just make yourself known or phone our show secretary Vera for advice on 01738 629859.”
