Assault teen making progress on scheme

-

A teenager who launched a violent attack on another female is making“good progress”on the Right Track scheme, Perth Sheriff Court has heard.

Violence erupted outside a Perth factory shop when the 17-yearold Perth girl repeatedly punched her victim on the face.

During the incident, the teen, who can’t be named because of her age, claimed the victim had made a comment about her “dead mum.”

Perth Sheriff Court was told the accused has been making“good progress” on the Right Track scheme, designed to keep youths away from a life of crime.

The teenager admitted seizing the other girl by the hair and then laying into her outside The Original Factory Shop in Perth’s Crieff Road on August 9 last year.

Depute fiscal Tina Dickie said the accused punched the other person“with a clenched fist several times to her head.”

She then grabbed her and kicked her to the body several times, whilst attempting to drag her to the ground.

The other woman suffered swelling to her nose but declined medical attention.

When cautioned and charged, the 17-year-old admitted the attack, adding:“She was talking about my dead mum.”

In a separate incident, the accused also admitted assaulting a 14-year-old girl by punching and slapping her on the head at the Viewlands Road West Reservoir, Perth, on May 24, 2018.

Sheriff Lindsay Foulis deferred sentence for a report from Right Track until November 27 and she was ordered to stay out of further trouble until then.
