Indy schools are doing well
There was success for Perthshire’s independent schools.
Morrison’s Academy in Creiff says pupils have performed above the national average after getting their results on Tuesday, August 6.
A huge 91 per cent of students sitting advanced higher exams passed, including 59 per cent achieving an A grade.
One in four pupils also achieved straight As across all of their chosen subjects.
Rector Gareth Warren said:“I’m extremely proud of today’s results.
“It is wonderful to see a continued improvement across the board for pupils, whatever their academic choices, and I’m particularly pleased that their effort and hard work has been rewarded.”
Glenalmond College achieved a 100 per cent pass rate for higher English and history.
Pupils also performed well in languages, with a 75 per cent of pupils achieving an A in higher French.
The school re-introduced SQA qualifications in the 2017/18 academic year as an option for all pupils, with many performing strongly in the 2019 exams.
Warden Hugh Ouston, head of Glenalmond College, said:“The positive performance of our pupils who sat highers this year is a reflection of the inspiring learning environment our team of staff has established.”
Kilgraston School in Bridge of Earn reported a year-on-year increase in A grades for all three levels of exams.
“I could not be more proud of the pupils and staff who have worked so hard to achieve these impressive results,”said head Dorothy MacGinty.
The school reports 60 per cento fo Advanced Highers and Highers coming back at A Grade and 66.4 percent of their National Fives candidates gained A grades.
Particularly strong at Kilgraston this year are STEM results, with maths higher achieving 75 per cent A grade and 100 per cent getting A or B grade for advanced higher maths.
