-

It’s a great day for Perthshire Pride There will be a number of road closures and changes to bus times this weekend because of all the events that are taking place in the city centre.

Locals and visitors hoping to enjoy the activities on Saturday are being warned to plan ahead.

A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council said:“With such a diverse range of events taking place in the city centre, some changes to normal arrangements should be expected in order to keep disruption to a minimum.

“A number of road closures will be required on the day, along with parking and loading restrictions, on High Street, George Street, Tay Street (between Smeaton’s Bridge and Queen’s Bridge), King Edward Street, St John Street, St John’s Place, South St John’s Place, Kirkside, Kirkgate, Bridge Lane and Mill Street (from Guard Vennel) and parking restrictions on Charlotte Street.

“Each road closure will be manned by a steward able to advise drivers of alternative routes. All road closures will be removed as soon as possible following the various events, with all roads opened to traffic once the event infrastructure has been cleared.”

The spokesperson continued:“There may be some delays to some bus services as a result of the day’s events – please contact Stagecoach on 01738 629339 or the council’s public transport unit on 01738 475000 for further information.

“For spectators and visitors coming into Perth city centre from further afield, Stagecoach service 7B operates from the Broxden Park and Ride facility to South Street, a very short walk to the centre of the city.

“Parking will be readily available in city centre car parks, except for parts of the South Inch car park, which will be used as the mustering area prior to the parade.”
