Saints require a big reaction

Kerr wants to repay fans with win

-

Kerr was down in the dumps after the Celtic defeat but is now ready for Livingston everybody forgets about it.

“Getting three points on the board will make all of the boys happier.”

Kerr has been part of a rotating Perth defence in recent weeks and is hoping a more settled backline will soon take shape.

For the Celtic hammering he was partnered alongside new signings Madis Vihmann and Wallace Duffy.

Tomorrow he could be joined by Liam Gordon, who has recovered from a fractured elbow and is set to return to first team duties.

“The defence has rotated quite a lot and there hasn’t really been a set defence in any of the games so far,” Kerr told the PA.

“It’s a bit of a gelling process at the moment, but hopefully we can get a solid four or five playing a few games together.

“Celtic were good but we made a few mistakes leading up to their goals.

“We weren’t tight enough and our basic defending wasn’t good enough.

“We give them credit because they are a good team but I think it’s the worst we’ve played in a while.

“It’s the heaviest defeat I’ve had following last season’s game against Celtic.

“We’ve not really laid a glove on Celtic in recent seasons and that isn’t good enough. We need to have a look at ourselves and do better.

“It has been disappointing for us so far and there have been mistakes all over the pitch.

“But we’re going to try and rectify that in training this week and cut out mistakes we’re making at the back.

“There have been too many happening and that is just not good enough for a Premiership team.”

Commenting on this weekend’s opponents, Kerr always expects a difficult afternoon against a Livingston side who he has become familiar with through the years.

The West Lothian men started off their Premiership campaign with a 0-0 draw against Motherwell last weekend.

Kerr said: “We need to set our hopes at finishing above Livingston.

“They are a good squad and they did really well last season. They have lost a few players but will still have a good team.

“I think it’s going to be a tough game, even with us being at home.

“Every game with Livingston, even when I was out on loan, was always a battle - home and away. They always put up a fight.”
