Danger drive by teenage biker

Failed to stop for police officer

Sheriff Lindsay Foulis also banned him from driving for 40 months - and he will have to pass the extended test before he can ride his motorcycle again.

He admitted that on October 24, 2018, on South Street and Canal Street, he drove a bike dangerously and failed to stop for a police officer who had signalled him to do so.

He then drove at excessive speeds and drove down a one-way street in the wrong direction, in the face of oncoming traffic, causing other road users to take evasive action.

He was subject to an April 9, 2018, bail order from the Perth court at the time.

Trueland had previously pled guilty to an earlier dangerous driving charge which took place in Leonard Street and Hospital Street on September 29, 2018.

He failed to obey a keep right sign, passed a traffic island on the wrong side and went through a no-entry sign. He then drove down a one-way road in the wrong direction in excess of the speed limit.

That resulted in the first unpaid work order being imposed in May of this year.

His lawyer, Pauline Cullerton, said he had been given six months to complete the order but the work element had been completed in just three months.

Sheriff Foulis said there was “merit in striking while the iron is hot” - and imposed the second order.

Noting that the second dangerous driving had taken place less than a month after the first, he said: “These are serious offences.

“They took place just before the rush hour, when traffic was heavy - and you were going the wrong way up certain streets in the centre of the town.

“To your credit, however, you have knuckled down and got through the unpaid work within three months.”

Sheriff Foulis ordered a review of Trueland’s progress on the second order for November 27 this year.
