Two-day festival will be a cultural celebration
Toby Gorniak MBE has been recognised for his work with young people in Plymouth well as workshops and talks including the celebrated haka.
There will be flamenco, hip hop and Polynesian dance workshops, plus tours of flamenco costume, free crafts, including flower- and basket-making, woodturning, and stencilling, as well as workshops, storytelling, fortune-telling, Persian poetry, and lots more.
One of the main attractions at the festival will be multi-award-winning Toby Gorniak, who was presented with an MBE last year in recognition of his transformative work with young people in Plymouth.
Toby, a Roma gypsy, has been connecting audiences, young people, artists and practitioners for the last 13 years, through his hip hop company, Street Factory CIC, alongside his wife Jo.
Toby empowers and enables young people to be better connected to their value and potential whilst understanding the positive impact they can have within their community.
His work is based on the 10 elements of hip hop, and a true belief that every young person has a voice and sound worth listening to.
He already has strong links with America, as well as advocates such as Simon Cowell.
Toby has also won the Autism Hero National Award, Local Hero Award, Community Business Award and Street Factory has been chosen as one of the Top 100 small businesses
Created and organised by Rajpot, the first Gypsy Traveller-led intercultural peace centre, giving voice to seldom-heard cultural communities, through multiarts, visual, craft-making and performance, and funded by Creative Scotland, Bing Anee promises to be an exciting, colourful and memorable weekend – a chance to see, hear and try out lots of new activities.
