to this court and dealt with in another way.

“Buckle down and complete the order unless you went to spend further time in custody.”

Chalk admitted that on October 30, 2016, at Abbot Street, Perth, he assaulted Stephen Leggatt by repeatedly punching him on the head and body and knocking him to the ground.

He had a not guilty plea accepted to a second charge of repeatedly kicking Michael Cowie on the head and body, while acting with a co-accused, and striking him on the head with a bottle, to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

A not guilty plea was also accepted to a further charge of assaulting Ian Gow by punching him on the head, knocking him to the ground and rendering him unconscious, to his severe injury.

Solicitor Paul Ralph said Chalk is due to be released from his 18-month prison term in Jersey on September 4.

The court there was told Chalk had been on the Jersey Police’s wanted list for a crime dating back to December 6, 2008, but hadn’t been apprehended.

He was placed on their wanted list on December 17, 2008, but evaded capture until September 8 last year.

The long arm of the law finally caught up with him after he was arrested for a drink-fuelled incident in a taxi queue.

Chalk ran up to a man who had knocked against the door of the cab he was climbing into.

He punched him, causing him to fall face down on the ground.

It was following his arrest that police discovered the outstanding warrant.

That was issued after Chalk glassed another man in the Royal Yacht, St Helier, more than 10 years earlier.

The victim suffered a one centimetre cut to his nose and swelling from the attack and was left shaken, resulting in him being signed off work for a week.

At the time, the doctor said he had been lucky not to suffer more severe injuries – something which he attributed to the fact the pint glass was probably made of safety glass.

The accused was jailed for a total of 18 months on one count of grave and criminal assault and one count of common assault.

At his Perth court appearance, Sheriff Wade told him: “I suggest you make every effort to get on with the order following your release.”

She allowed him a year to complete the unpaid work and will check his progress on December 18.
